‘Why do leading ladies of silver screen do not get equal pay amount as their male leads’ is one of the leading question raised in Bollywood in recent times. This question is erected every now and then in HT City where as Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao divulged great support for ‘equal payment for equal work’ in Bollywood. Duo appeared at the shoot of Aamir’s upcoming biopic film ‘Dangal’ based on Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.
On Monday the couple addressing the media in Ludhiana called for a change discriminatory demeanor. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao presented their strong support saying,
“The pattern is certainly unjust and the concept of equal pay for equal work needs to be pushed in the film world too.”
At the shooting location of ‘Dangal’ Kiran said, this type of discrimination is fairly injustice which can demotivate upcoming actors. If we would bring change in this culture then it results in lot of positiveness. To a question following their own production house they immediately moved their heads positively mixed with pride. Kiran said,
“At our production house, we have always given a chance to those who deserve it and she/he may be a newcomer. If they do equal work, we never make any discrimination in payment on the basis of gender.”
On discussing need to respect women, Aamir instantly became emotional and said behind every successful man there was always a woman and credited her wife saying ‘Kiran is my backbone and my biggest support. If I am able to give my best, it is because of her.’
