On Friday morning Chennai-Mangalore Express derailed near Viruthachalam district which injured 42 people in 5 coaches around 2am. People are injured very severely and these suffering people were admitted in near by local hospital.
According to TV reports, yet there were no reports regarding fatality whereas train left to its terminal place. All the injured passengers from Mangalore Express which derailed this morning were taken in special buses allotted for them to places like Trichy, Salem and Villupuram. Railway officials has already set up a team to help the grounded passengers.
Southern Railway officials and police said, “The mishap occurred around 2 a.m today when the four bogies of the Mangalore-bound train jumped the tracks at Puvanur near Vriddhachalam in Cuddalore district, about 200 km from here.”
Subsequently trains have been diverted through other places like Thanjavur and Salem yo Chennai. Trains like Trichy to Chennai Pallavan and Madurai-Chennai Vaigai Super fast Express will direct via Kumbakonam and Thanjavur. A per reports, railway officials issued a statement that train services will return back to their normal schedule by today afternoon. Senior railway officer rushed to the accident site as soon as he received information to start help and rehabilitation work to provide rescue and solace.
