Indian Tennis stars ‘Leander Paes’ and ‘Sania Mirza’ advanced second round in US Open with direct win in their corresponding matches. In men’s double opening round Leander along with his partner Fernando Verdasco from Spanish gained better score than German’s Frank Moder and Florian Mayer 6-2 6-3.
Verdasco and Paes took 62 minutes to finish as they retained two break possibilities to advance the game and changed all three break points which they earned. Later they faced American huge stellar Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey who pulled out top seeded fellow citizens Mike and Bob Bryan.
In first round of Women’s doubles, peak-seeded Indo-Swiss pair Sania and Martina Hingis discharged Sabrina Santamaria and American Kaitlyn Christian 6-1 6-2. Indian top double players took 56 minutes timespan who lost their service two times and broke their opponents seven times. Now they need to face Swiss Timea Bacsinszky and her Taipei partner Chia-Jung Chuang who collapsed Melanie Oudin and Jessica Pegula team of America, 6-4 7-6 (5).
Already reaching men’s doubles second round, Rohan Bopanna tomorrow will open mixed doubles campaign with his Taipei partner Yung-Jan Chan. The second seeds face Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic and Fernando Verdasco. Sania will also start her title battle with partner Bruno Soares from Brazil. They fight against Poland’s Lukasz Kubot and Andrea Hlavackova.
