Indian selectors will be finalizing Test squad which will tour Sri Lanka next month. Leg spinners Ravindra Ashwin and Harbhajan Singh are almost sure to be listed in the squad as Sri-Lankan players faced trouble playing against Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir Shah in their last series.
Team management sources said that they have been observing Sri Lankan players struggling to play against Yasir Shah. Indian team should have a specialist leg spinner to counter strike Sri Lankan batting line up. Yasir Shah is probably the best leg spinner out there in the world right now and India has to cope up to find a player like him in the team. Karn Sharma leg spinner from Railways has fractured his left middle finger. Other leg spinner Amit Mishra is currently playing for India ‘A’ team against Australia ‘A’. Selectors are expressing the interest in pulling Amit into the team after recovery from injury. If the team management wishes to have these leg spinners or left-arm spinner then Axar Patel and Pragyan Ojha would be added and Ravindra Jadeja might be out of the team.
Indian team has traditionally combated against Sri Lankan squad with spinners and might continue to do so in this season as well. Captain Virat Kohli has opted to play three pacers against Bangladesh in the last series. Indian skipper still has a glitch to choose pacers as we cannot register a victory only by playing through Spin attack. Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron and Bhuvneshwar kumar are all set to fly to Sri Lanka.
