A birth Certificate is an important document that is an official record of a birth of a child. Similarly, the death certificate is an official record of a deceased person. It specifies the cause of death, location of death, the timing of death, and few other details of the deceased.

The Birth and Death Certificates can be generated online in the state of Tamil Nadu in 2018.

How To Apply For Birth Certificate In TN

To obtain the Birth Certificate, you need to first apply for one. For application, one needs to register the birth details with the Panchayat/ Municipal Corporation/ Health Department in the area. The birth of the child must be registered within 21 days by filling the required form along with the certificate from the Medical Institution, with the concerned local authorities.

Usually, the hospitals, maintain a register which consists of the details of the birth, and the same is sent to local concerned authorities to keep the record. After filling and submission of the form, the authorities will accept it and recheck it with the registered records and issue the certificate.

How To Download Birth Certificate in Tamil Nadu

  1. Go to the official website

The state has an official portal where you can go and download the birth certificate of a newborn.

Under the Certificate Download drop-down menu, select “Birth Certificate”.

  1. Fill in the details

Here, you have to either enter the RCHID i.e. Reproductive and Child Health ID or fill in the details of the newborn which are Gender, District, Place of Birth, if Hospital, select the name of the hospital, Date of Birth.

  1. Generate OTP and Number Verification

After this, enter your mobile number and you will receive an OTP. Enter the OTP in the space provided. Similar to CAPTCHA, you have to enter the number you see for verification purposes.

  1. Click on “View”

When you click on the view you will see the details of the children born in the hospital and the date which you entered.

  1. Download the Birth Certificate

Click on the Registration number along with the name of the children and you will be able to download the Birth Certificate in pdf format and you can print it if required.

  • Any citizen or any foreigner who is the legal heir of the deceased.
  • Parents and relatives of the deceased.

How To Apply For Death Certificate in Tamil Nadu

To apply for a death certificate, the death has to be registered first with the concerned local authorities within 21 days. A death can be registered by the head of the family, if the death occurred in the house, by the medical in charge, if it occurred in the hospital, by the jail in charge, if occurred in jail, and by the in charge of the local police station, in case of a deserted body being found.

After registration, the concerned citizen reaches out to the authority on a working day and fills an application form for the issue of a Death Certificate. After checking the specifications, a Death Certificate is issued by the authorities

Under the Certificate Download drop-down, select “Death Certificate”

  1. Fill in the details

Here, enter the details of the deceased, which are their Gender, District, Place of Death, if Hospital, enter the name of the Hospital, and Date of Death.

  1. Generate OTP and Number Verification

Enter your mobile number, and enter the OTP generated. Enter the given number for verification.

  1. Click on View

Here, you will see the registered deceased on the date of death you entered.

  1. Download the Death Certificate

Select the registration number of the deceased whose death certificate you want to download and you can print it if you want to.
