Twitter has featuring an experimental News tab in its mobile apps for Android and iOS, which serve news for users, currently live in the US and Japan. While this move by Twitter simply brings up a list of headlines that are trending i.e top tweets discussing the story on microblogging site. Twitter has confirmed the new feature on iOS and Android mobile apps, in an attempt to keep users with the social network websites.
As reported in BuzzFeed, this new feature “News” tab has placed at the bottom of application bar — which will update with new stories and headlines on the Twitter. It’s a great way shows list of trending stories with an image and top tweets.
Twitter spokesperson told, “We’re experimenting with a news experience on iOS and Android as we continue to explore new ways to surface the best content to users”.
However, this news tab feature currently in testing phase only, not all users will access to it – we can expect that it might take some time before the option more accessible by every user. If the Twitter decides to roll out this new feature globally it could also provide the platform with valuable advertising real estate.
At the moment, new feature has already rolled out for both Android and iOS users in Japan, but when it comes to other users yet-to-be-announced. In addition, Twitter updated web as well as its Android app to add four new regional languages namely, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil.
