The Smart Pulse Survey was conducted to improve accountability and collect valid details. The field surveyors of the Praja Sadhikara Survey go door-to-door to every house in Andhra Pradesh to ask questions and collect the data. The data collected combined and analyzed further to be more useful.
Praja Sadhikara Survey
The main objective to conduct the Praja Sadhikara Survey is to gather details about the socio-economic and government schemes the families and individuals are a part of. It is to ensure that the beneficiaries of the scheme receive the benefits in their bank account on time. The State Government employed about 30,000 surveyors to conduct the Praja Sadhikara Survey.
Each surveyor allotted a block called the “Enumerators Block” and each block consists of about 1000 individuals. To alleviate any difficulty in collecting data and fast process, the State Government also provides the surveyors with tablets where they can enter the data without any errors. The purpose of the survey is also to have the true data of the citizen’s socio-economic conditions in a single place.

The survey conducted to collect socio-economic data but which data specifically? Following is the data that is collected by conducting the PSS:-
- Caste of the Individuals
This is to find out what caste does the individual belongs to. In India, caste basically divided into four categories amongst Hindus- Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and the Shudras. Certain castes enjoy certain benefits under the schemes because of reservation.
This is to find out the religion of the individuals and households. There are numerous religions in India. The most populous religions are- Hindu, Muslim, Sikhs, and Christians.
This is to find out the region of the individuals. Individuals belonging to rural areas are more susceptible to unfair disadvantages where the benefit of their schemes might be enjoyed by someone else.
